The \u201cVal Viola\u201d is one of the most admired and visited areas of the Alta Valtellina.<\/strong> This valley offers a lot of opportunities for hikers and here we propose the circular route<\/strong> that, starting from the car park of Altumeira <\/strong>(the last car park of the valley), goes uphill towards Lake Viola and turns left in the direction of the glacier peaks of the \u201cCime di Lago Spalmo\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

The \u201cVal Viola\u201d is one of the most admired and visited areas of the Alta Valtellina.<\/strong> This valley offers a lot of opportunities for hikers and here we propose the circular route<\/strong> that, starting from the car park of Altumeira <\/strong>(the last car park of the valley), goes uphill towards Lake Viola and turns left in the direction of the glacier peaks of the \u201cCime di Lago Spalmo\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once you arrive at the gateway of the heavenly plateau of the valley \u201cCantone di Dosd\u00e8\u201d, a short descent on single track takes you to the center of the valley and, caressing the gorge and the beautiful waterfall of the Viola river<\/strong>, brings you to the \u201cAgriturismo Caricc\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This excursion is very interesting in September and October when the larches, painted with warm autumn colors, give this valley a wonderful atmosphere.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Description of the <\/strong>excursions<\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

From the car park of \u201cAltumeira\u201d<\/strong> take the stone road<\/strong> of the \u201cVal Viola<\/strong>\u201d that goes slightly uphill along route 290<\/strong> in the direction of\u00a0 \u201cRifugio Viola\u201d and \u201cPasso di Val Viola\u201d.<\/p>\n

After a little more than 1 kilometer the road presents a fork. One road continues straight toward Lake Viola<\/strong> while the second road turns left and goes slightly downhill in the direction of the glaciers of the peaks of \u201cCime di Lago Spalmo\u201d and the wonderful valley \u201cVal Cantone di Dosd\u00e8\u201d.<\/strong> Take this second road and continue in the direction of the \u201cAlpe Dosd\u00e8\u201d. Once you reach the mountain pasture \u201cAlpe Dosd\u00e8\u201d turn left on route 208 in the direction of the \u201cRifugio Federico\u201d that you will reach in a few minutes walk.<\/p>\n

From the Alpine shelter you should come back the way you came for a few meters until you meet the intersection with the trail 2913<\/strong> that goes in the direction of the \u201cBaita Caricci\u201d. Pay attention<\/strong> during the first few hundred meters that take you to the wood because in some tracts the trail, even though it’s marked with paint on the stones, isn’t always clear.<\/p>\n

In a few minutes this track takes you toward the center of the Valley (val Viola) where you meet a small but incredible panoramic terrace on the gorge of Viola valley and its wild waterfall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A few minutes descent on a single track brings you to the \u201cAgriturismo Baita Caricci\u201d. <\/strong>Leaving the enchanting rest stop, continue along the stone road in the direction of \u201cArnoga\u201d. A few hundred meters after the \u201cagriturismo\u201d,\u00a0 turn left on route 293\/1 in the direction of the car park of \u201cAltumeira\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A short ascent brings you to the starting and finishing point of this excursion.<\/p>\n
