Bormio can easily be reached from Milano by the new highway SS. No. 36 of the ComoLake as far as Colico. Here the road joins the main road SS. No. 38 of the StelvioPass that leads to Bormio, passing through Morbegno, Sondrio and Tirano.
The most convenient way for those coming from east, south or central Italy and driving along the motorway A4 (Torino - Venezia), is to take the exit at Brescia Ovest and drive along the SS. No. 510 of the Iseo Lake and then the SS. No. 42 of Val Camonica as far as Edolo. Here the road joins the SS. No. 39 of the ApricaPass as far as the locality Tresenda where you meet the SS. No. 38 that leads to Bormio.
During the summer season you can also reach Bormio by crossing two scenic Alpine passes: the StelvioPass (the highest pass in Europe) coming from the north, the GaviaPass coming from the north-east.
In this case, it is advisable to get information about the road conditions, since they are narrow and bending road passes, especially the GaviaPass.
